If the Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, and Minnesota Timberwolves all lose on Saturday night, the Dallas Mavericks will have a good chance to secure a spot in the 2023 NBA playoffs.

The NBA playoffs have begun again, and the Dallas Mavericks are the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. The Mavericks have won two in a row after a three-game losing record, including a 111-110 buzzer-beater victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.

Dallas Mavericks is in a better position than the No. 7 seeded Golden State Warriors (36-36), and they’re holding on to a 1.5-game lead over the No. 8 seeded Minnesota Timberwolves (now 35-37), who were ahead of them in the rankings only days ago until the Timberwolves’ three-game losing streak.

This past Saturday, both the Warriors and the Timberwolves were defeated

After their loss against the Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State dropped to 29-29 on the road this season, while Minnesota’s season ended with a loss to the Toronto Raptors.

The Los Angeles Clippers, the No. 5 seed, also fell to the Orlando Magic in a close game. Even though the Mavericks and Clippers split the season series 2-2, Dallas has the tiebreaker thanks to a superior conference win percentage.

The Mavericks have an uphill battle to knock out the fourth-seeded Suns of Phoenix by a margin of 2.5 games. It appears that teams from ninth to twelfth place, coached by coaches other than Jason Kidd, have a fighting chance of winning in the finals by a margin of 2.5 games or more.

Dallas will only face four more teams from the Western Conference in the remaining 11 games. They’ve fared poorly versus Eastern Conference opponents this year, going 9-14. The remaining 11 games are against better opponents, but four of them are against lower-tier clubs. So, efficiency is crucial in the remaining games of the regular season.
