Kyle Kuzma of the Wizards thinks Los Angeles Lakers has a shot at the NBA Finals

The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been to the playoffs since their journey to the NBA Finals in 2020. Although though LeBron James and Anthony Davis carried the load for the 2020 squad, the likes of Alex Caruso, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo, and Kyle Kuzma all made significant contributions.

Davis has pointed out that this year’s team shares several characteristics with the championship squad, namely how players like Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Rui Hachimura occupy roles comparable to those of Caldwell-Pope, Alex Caruso, and Kyle Kuzma. One former Lakers player thinks it’s quite possible for the team to make a run after they’ve improved greatly since the trade deadline and put together some remarkable games.

Kyle Kuzma Tweeted:

Kyle Kuzma tweeted his ‘hot take’ about the playoffs, expressing optimism that the Lakers will reach the NBA Finals this season.

Will the Lakers beat Timberwolves?

The Western Conference is wide open, making virtually anything conceivable. Even if the best that can happen for the Lakers is a seventh seed if they beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in Tuesday night’s first Play-In Game, the team’s composition and quality of play since the deadline have been quite high for the most part.

Whether or if Davis can maintain the high level of play he has displayed this season will be crucial to the Lakers’ chances of making a deep playoff run and ultimately winning a title. With Davis at his best, the Lakers can compete with any team in the NBA. He has shown that he is still one of the best players in the game.

Since Kuzma saw this personally when playing for the purple and gold, and since his current club, the Washington Wizards, did not make the playoffs, he is probably pulling for his old squad. The Lakers have a long way to go, but there is hope among this group that they can make a deep playoff run, and that optimism definitely goes outside the locker room.

Austin Reaves thinks the Lakers have a good chance of making the playoffs if they’re healthy

Like in the previous two years, the Lakers’ overall health will be a major factor. Despite their improved performance, the Lakers have been missing several important players due to injuries. Austin Reaves thinks the Lakers have a great shot at beating anyone if they can remain healthy.

Reaves responded, “Yes, for sure.” Since the trade deadline, I believe we’ve played some of the league’s finest basketball. We also haven’t exactly been in tip-top shape health-wise; Bron and/or AD and/or DLo have all missed time due to injury. If we’re sound in body and mind, then this is a great chance for us.
